Latvian fire logs! A great scout activity and a re Latvian fire logs! A great scout activity and a really fuel efficient way of cooking on fire. This fire lends itself really well to cooking on a pan.
Not every meal can be cooked on a campfire. Here's Not every meal can be cooked on a campfire. Here's proof that even if you're working indoors with a kitchen, Scouts can step up.
Scouts should still work in patrols to feed the camp. All it takes is or the PLs to sit down together and fairly working out a rota of who is doing what - prep, cooking, serving and cleaning.
Dinner on this night was a chilli con carne and chicken curry with rice and garlic bread. Then we had a breakfast of bacon and French toast.
Navigation is such a hard, dry thing to cover on w Navigation is such a hard, dry thing to cover on weekly scout meetings. You really have to get out and do it in the field. That was our last scout meeting in the den this side of Halloween. We're going to meeting out and about in nearby (ish) mountains and country parks before a full blown hike in a few weeks. #hillwalking

It is absolutely amazing how you can give a group of scouts the same ingredients and instructions and yet the meals they make can come out so different. There were no complaints that night though! Everyone went to their next activity happy and fed! #scoutsie #campfire #scouts #scouting
I absolutely loveee hammocking. Can be scary for I absolutely loveee hammocking.
Can be scary for scouts the first night so pick a good night. Dry and wind free. Flood the place with lights. Some children will need told to actually get into their sleeping bags, not just use them like a duvet. Use your roll mat - a layer below you is worth two above you!
And don't be surprised if some scouts bomb out in the middle of the night. They tried their best. We all have different limits to our comfort zones. Have a couple of tents up ready for this. Kids need their sleep on camp. #hammock #hammockcamping #scoutsie #scouts #scoutcamp
